There are so many wonderful places to visit right on our doorstep – and historic York and Harrogate are both around 45 minutes away depending on traffic. You can enjoy the best of Yorkshire: foodie heaven with great gastro pubs and restaurants; great heritage, from Shandy Hall, Newburgh Priory and Byland Abbey within the environs of Coxwold to Castle Howard or Fountains Abbey which are just a half hour drive away; great market towns with boutique shops like Easingwold, Helmsley and Malton, Yorkshire’s food capital; quirky places like the neighbouring village of Kilburn, famous for Mouseman furniture, and the famous White Horse carved into Sutton Bank; and the most amazing walking country right from our doorstep in the North York Moors national park. This really is the perfect location for a boutique holiday cottage and shepherd’s hut!
The east coast of Yorkshire is breathtaking and a drive across the North York Moors national park via Helmsley to Whitby from Coxwold really does make for a great day out with first class fish and chips and stunning views of Whitby Abbey. Perfect in the Yorkshire sunshine, whatever season you visit.
