Whether you are travelling by road from north or south, we recommend you use the A1(M).

Exit the A1(M) at junction 49 onto the A168 dual carriageway towards Thirsk.

Don’t be tempted to take the first exit to Thirsk. Instead, wait until you see the signs for the A19.

This will take you down to a roundabout where you need to turn right onto the A19 towards York.

After 2 miles look out for a left fork signposted Coxwold.

Follow the country lanes for 5 miles to Coxwold, taking care to avoid oncoming tractors!

When you enter Coxwold (30mph) the church is on your right at the Fauconberg Arms on your left.

Slow down towards the bottom of the hill where, at the crossroads, you need to turn left towards Byland and Wass.

The moment you turn left you need to look out for the turn into the drive which is immediately on your right between the two gate piers topped with stone balls. Look out for the “Forge Cottage” house sign.

Please park to the left or right so that we can still use the wrought iron gates in front of you.

If you look to your right, on the gate post, you will see the doorbell. Ring that and we will welcome you. Your holiday at Coxwold in the North York Moors is about to begin….

The map on this page shows the precise location of the entrance for both the Holiday Cottage and Shepherd’s Hut.
