Country Life features North Yorkshire!
- 3 October 2018 -
Rush out and buy this week’s Country Life magazine (3 October 2018 issue) and you can explore North Yorkshire, where Coxwold Cottages is located, from the comfort of your own armchair! Our favourite section is “Pictures worth a thousand words” on pages 58-59 – in particular we loved the photo by Tony McKenna taken from the top of Sutton Bank – just 10 minutes from Forge Cottage, our luxury self-catering holiday let. The view from Sutton Bank was described by vet and author James Herriot, as being “the finest in England”.
As Country Life says: “Blow away the cobwebs with a walk or cycle ride along the hair-raising trails or get up close to the Kilburn White Horse, the largest white horse in the country, which dominates the view for miles.” In the winter months, you can then come back and warm yourself by an open fire in Forge Cottage in nearby Coxwold. North Yorkshire really is the perfect location for a holiday in England, as Country Life explains.
Other features in our part of the North York Moors national park that are “mentioned in dispatches” include the lovely market town of Helmsley (15 minutes from Coxwold), pictureque Goathland where Heatbeat was filmed (55 minutes from Coxwold), the famous ruined Whitby Abbey (an hour from Coxwold) as well as our own Byland Abbey (less than 5 minutes away from Coxwold!) – and Piet Oudolf’s Scampston Walled Garden at Malton (45 minutes from Coxwold). All well worth a visit when staying at our boutique self catering holiday cottage in Coxwold. Mention is also made of the foodie heaven at the Black Swan in Oldstead which is the next village to Coxwold… Come along to Coxwold and discover the great outdoors in North Yorkshire for yourself – a copy of this week’s Country Life will be inside Forge Cottage, awaiting your arrival in Coxwold!
